Ministry of Zombies - Brant Danay

I'm probably not your typical Brant Danay fan - I'm not real fan of hardcore horror, blood and guts but I'm glad I gave this one a try as it is something quite different.

Sure, it is full of gory horror but there is much more to this work than that. For me, Danay is a rare thing these days, he seems to have really carved out each line - his text scares, challenges and has you reaching for the dictionary in equal measure. Be warned - this book will make you work for it but the like any successful book, the story entices you in.

On the subject of story, if you are interested in any kind of deity or mystical being - chances are they are in here. It's as if Danay took everything humans have ever written about the gods and threw it up in the air. He obviously knows his stuff well and is very clever in how he weaves it all together.

So, I won't ruin the story, only include my favourite line to give a flavour. "Portions of the Necrodelic's entrails were impaled upon the spikes of Drelei's stegosaurus tail.."
You get the idea...

In summary, there are guts a plenty but I still think this is essentially a literary work. If Poe and Lovecraft were around today, I'm sure they would be interested in this genre of work, that is as long as Danay didn't chop them up to use their blood as the evil ink for writing his latest tale.
